I took the new skills I learned and just rode 1,300 miles from Las Vegas to Southern Utah on an F800 GS I rented. We went through Angel Fire park in Las Vegas, then onto St George Utah, Bryce Canyon, National Reef Park, Lake Mead, Dead Horse Point and off road in Moab. Incredibly beautiful scenery and a bucket list trip for me.
On the off-road portion I was with a friend riding a 1200GS and I was on the F800. Using the skills I learned at Dirt 101 I was able to safely enjoy the ride on the F800 GS and never fall. I felt very confident in all conditions from rain, to mud to eroded trails, loose rocks and sand. My friend fell time and time again on his 1200GS because he had not learned the skills. I finally had to ride his bike out of the tough spots and was able to do it pretty easily on the big 1200GS . My friend looked on with amazement as I rode through areas he had struggled with and fallen.
That riding confidence and safety was due to DIRT 101 and I wanted to let you know that. Those few days of lessons made such a difference for me and I love the new skills and plan to continue to develop my skills and am now able to enjoy adventure riding in a whole new way.
So this is a long winded way of saying “thank you” for running the DIRT 101 course – I know it is not a big profit motive for you and is you giving back and at least I can offer you my sincere “thanks” for the gift of skills.
